On October 10, 2010 I embark on a 2 month trip to Beijing to open up THE FIRST Gap store in China. I will be part of the Beijing team in Chaobei Joy City, a large scale regional shopping center. By the end of 2010 there we will have 4 Gaps opened, 2 in Beijing and 2 in Shanghai.

Day 30 - Nov 7th HONG KONG

I am in HONG KONG!!!
Getting here was an adventure and for a moment there I was scared I wasn't going to make it but...

I MADE IT!!!

I got picked up in this pimp ass ride
I did not know that they drive on the opposite side of the street

The car was super nice. It had SO MUCH room in the back and you had your own personal TV and today's news paper was in this lovely leather bound book. The driver also handed me a bottle of water and a wet towel out of the little fridge in the front!

The view on the drive to the hotel was amazing. I love cities by the water.
I wish I could have gotten some pictures of the port, but they kept coming out all blurry.

The Kam Wan Tunnel

THIS was the hotel I stayed in...NIIIIICE!
The Kowloon Shangri-la Hotel.
All the women that worked there were so pretty and had the cutest uniforms.

Complimentary tea in a basket :)

Now my mom wants one of these

Mini Bar #1

Mini Bar #2 - bc one mini bar is never enough

I got scared when I went to take a shower bc I thought the water was going to come out of the normal shower head, but came out from the ceiling instead...hahaha
This shower was awesome

The lobby is so pretty!

View from my room - I could see the boats go by and Hong Kong Island.

Roasted nuts and potatoes on the street

Seeing as I only had a half day to go around Hong Kong I picked a few local markets that were recommended to me.

First stop, the Flower Market.

This street was so beautiful. I really wanted to buy some flowers, but I knew I'd have to leave them behind so I didn't :(
at least I have Little Tree Rock

Orchids are probably my favorite flower

(above) This is probably my favorite picture from this trip.

Coconut head!!! (they aren't really coconut heads)

These cactus have little chilies growing out of them!

I love how round everything is

After the Flower Market I made my way over to the Bird Garden or Bird Market.

These wooden cages were so nice. I wish I could have bought one to take home.

I wanted this little black bird

There were birds EVERYWHERE!!! I touched one very lightly on its head :)

After a while I started getting the itch to shop so I made my way over to the Ladies Market, which is like a huge outdoor shopping market with a million stalls. And behind those stalls are all these tiny cramped store blasting music (usually Gaga or Black Eyed Peas). Once in a while you happen upon some sample sale booths that are really nice :)))

I took a brief detour home bc my feet were KILLING me! So I changed shoes. Dropped my bags off. Then took a taxi out to Causeway Bay aka Time Square.

They were setting up this huge spray paint display outside.

It really does look like Time Square!

This stand sold the beef jerky my mom likes. The kind we can only get from Texas and Cali now.

CONCLUSION - I LOVE HONG KONG!

THE END
